Development Programme and Timetable
There are three immediate strands to the development programme.
-
The device must achieve design mass transfer rates for oxygen and carbon
dioxide.
-
The materials and design must show adequate biocompatibility.
-
The device must be fully integrated with the natural mammalian respiratory
control mechanism. In this way, mass transfer rates respond naturally, and
stably, to respiratory demand.
Haemair staff are leading the work on mass transfer and control. University
staff are leading the work on blood rheology and clotting, and on materials
selection.
"Haemair Limited has a mission to reduce Acute deaths, improve the lives of
Chronic sufferers and to provide an alternative to lung transplantation."
