Haemair pump in circuit that maintains kidney viability ex-vivo for 48 hours

Extended ex-vivo perfusion tests of porcine kidneys have been conducted. Circuits driven by the Haemair pulsatile pump showed improved urine production and reduced resistance to blood flow through the kidneys compared to circuits driven by a widely-used centrifugal blood pump. In stand-alone tests, the Haemair pump also shows reduced haemolysis.
